[BTL] Behind the Lens: EARTH (2025)

EARTH (2025)

"I wanted to create a simple, yet bold interpretation of Earth tones. Include enough Light to illuminate the Composition while leaving deep Shadows. The Texture combined with the selected Colors of these Stones help to add a touch of grit to the Photograph." -ecj

INSPIRATION
I follow the Work of several Interior Design Agencies. Many of them lean towards Earth tones in their Color Palettes. I wanted to create a Series of Work in that vein without copy/pasting their Style. I decided to try a more bold, simple, impactful piece to start. Yet, it includes the Earth tones that fit together best in my mind.

EDITING
The difficult part was finding the right Composition along with the correct focal point. The scene was a bit underexposed. I increased the Highlights, lifted the Shadows to show more Detail. Removed Chromatic Aberrations, all in Adobe Camera Raw. In PhotoShop, I used the Healing Brush to remove dust spots.

FEEDBACK
"Earth" is the first finished piece I've created in almost two years. I took a long break from Photography because... I needed the break. But during that time, I continued to absorb various mediums of Art, Interior Design, Furniture Design, etc. After several months, I began to think about how my Work could improve if I picked up the camera again. Sometimes, you have to step away ..or step back and reflect in order to eventually move forward.
