Artist's Notes:

This was one of the more challenging Sessions that I’ve had. The flamingos are constantly moving. The Lighting is drastically different from Shade to Sunlight. And I’m trying not to bump into someone or something as the crowd moves by to take their own Photographs.

“Bask in the Light” is the best Capture of the Session although some of the Highlights are nearly too intense. I decided to embrace this Intensity by deepening the Blacks while lifting the Shadows during Editing to retain Detail. This puts even more emphasis on the Highlights.

Ultimately, this creates a majestic feel throughout the entire Composition. It’s important to have three distinct layers in Captures like this: Highlights, Midtones, and Shadows. Finding the right balance between the three while capturing the flamingos in the correct posture is the key to creating a memorable Image.
