The 3-month Campaign begins today. One piece will be featured in the Arts Section of the next three Issues in both Print and the Digital Showcase. The goal is to introduce my Artwork to a broader audience.
Backstory
Four years ago, a Sales Executive from Conde Nast contacted me about Advertising my Artwork in House & Garden Magazine UK. At the time, I had just poured the majority of the Studio budget into an Exhibition. I wasn’t able to Invest in another opportunity.
I explained to the Exec. that if Exhibition Sales were good, I would be able to Invest more into Marketing. The opportunity faded after the final night of the Art Exhibit; the ROI simply wasn’t good enough. I didn’t have the resources to cover a major Marketing Campaign.
As time passed, I invested in smaller and smaller opportunities because the ROI (Return on Investment) wasn’t great. In January 2025, I fully intended to Close the Studio. I invested so much with so little Return over the years. Neglected my personal needs. Eventually, my willingness to sacrifice for the Studio faded away.
2026: One more huge swing at ‘consistent’ Studio Success. What does that feel like? Like sitting at a poker table pushing all your chips to the center table. All in.
I contacted the Ad Dept. for Conde Nast with the original message attached from four years prior. I want to not only have my Work featured in the Print magazine, but also the Digital Showcase. Within a few days, they responded. Positively.
The new Sales Exec. likes my Artwork and sent me all the Marketing Packages. Looking at the Price Options I thought: I have never Invested this much into a single campaign. Still, I told myself I was going to swing big. No backing out now.
I selected a Package and the Marketing team at Conde Nast began reserving Space for my Artwork in their next three Issues: June, July, and August. I selected and prepared the first Art piece for the June Issue, which Released on May 7th. The next few days were spent Approving the Print Proof.
Of course, I’ll receive copies of the Print Issues my Work is in. All I can do now is wait. ..mostly. I continue to make minor tweaks to the website presentation, but I made sure much of that work was done before sending the inquiry to Conde Nast.
Normally, I would focus on finishing a major Studio Project before I focus on a major personal project. But now I’m doing both at the same time, which is why I’m being so careful with my spending.
If the Studio Marketing Campaign is a huge success, then.. great. I can invest more into the Studio. If the ROI is not good, then.. I need to be able to pivot and recover before the end of this year. Either way, a plan is in place to move forward.
Sincerely,
